1980 - Leacock Medal - Me Bandy, You Cissie - by Donald Jack

"As I read Me Bandy, You Cissie, the fourth volume of the Bandy journals and the third to win the Leacock Medal for Humour, two questions jumped out of the text."

One, “What happened to his wife?,” comes to mind because the last Bandy book on my list ended with the hero marrying Katherine Lewis, the girl with the alluring squint.   Now she’s dead, and Bandy’s thoughts turn to two other women: the sweet Cissie Chaffington and the“hot-blooded” Darya Fillipovna Fokov -  Dasha.
That delicate mix of sweet and steamy, comic and authentic may be the core of the Bandy books and one answer to my second question:  “Why is it that I want to write like Donald Jack ?”
