The 2016 Leacock Student Humor Writing Competition

15th April 2016 Deadline Extended

If you’re a high school student in Ontario who wants to write - or wants to make people laugh - or better yet – both, then hurry up, put down the iPad, get up off the couch, pull up a chair, and start typing.

No - Wait ! – Hurry up and stay on the couch for a while, close your eyes, and dream up a story – then type.

Actually, you don’t even have to have a story – just try to be funny – an essay of your rantings will do – if it is good.

For tips on how to make it good, click here and maybe here.

Your story or essay can even be just one (1) word long –  but it has to be something less than 1,500 words.   It only costs $5 to enter. Other criteria info can be found here.

But you do have to do the hurry up part -  because the competition closes soon.

You can win up to $1,000 plus tickets to the Leacock  Medal banquet in June, free accommodations for two nights, and other stuff.

So – Go. Write. Win.

(If you don’t think anyone can write a funny, one-word essay  – well, how about the word you might say if you don't get your entry in on time.)
