What's So Funny ? Peterborough

Author and historian Dick Bourgeois-Doyle will be in Peterborough this week for a book signing and other events tied to his new book What’s So Funny? Lessons from the Leacock Medal for Humour Writing.  The book asks - Is there a Canadian sense of humour ? How can we write with more humour ? And what can humour writing teach us about ourselves ?

Acclaimed by satirists and scholars across Canada, What’s So Funny? reviews the winners of Canada’s top prize for humour writing and shows, among other things, the influential role Peterborough has played in shaping humorous Canadian literature.  Robertson Davies wrote his Leacock Medal book in the town and Trent University founder Tom Symons was profoundly affected by the first medal winner written by his father.  Other Leacock Medalists have lived and taught in Peterborough over the years.  For reviews, kudos, and media commentary click here
